Be prepared for the new developments clearing the way for businesses to benefit from the many commercial uses for UAS.Commercial uses for drones, also known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) abound, particularly in the utility industry. From handling dangerous inspections to collecting topographical data to monitoring infrastructure, UAS can be extraordinarily helpful. However, safety and privacy concerns have hindered widespread commercial UAS use, at least until now.
